University of the Sunshine Coast Services and Facilities

The University of the Sunshine Coast offers its students and staff all the necessary services and facilities in order to assist in the achievement of their academic and teaching goals.

The library, for one, embodies this aspiration by providing printed and online materials to facilitate research and teaching. Open all days of the week, the library’s extensive collection is accessible to students when they visit the facility themselves or log in though the intranet. Friendly staff also provides assistance in looking up and finding resources. The library is also supplied with local and national newspapers daily. Materials that cannot be borrowed may be photocopied or printed within the facility.

Textbooks can also be purchased at the Co-op Bookshop for discounted prices to its members. The shop also offers stationery and software products.

There are also myriad of academic-related services available to students during their attendance to the university. One is the development of writing and study skills through workshops and consultations. This program is aimed at improving research and essay-formulation skills of students and teaches them ways to avoid plagiarism.

The University of the Sunshine Coast is also committed to provide equal opportunities for disabled students. The Disability Services Officer is assigned to provide all the assistance needed by students who are suffering one of the many forms of disability.

Counseling services are not confined to but a few students, but to all who wish to avail of the expertise of professional psychologists. Counselors provide assistance not only on academic aspects but also on personal matters and issues related to college life.

The university also offers its Tertiary Enabling Program to all students in order to ensure that they succeed in getting the degree they wanted. This program takes the form of weekly tutorials for undergraduate students who wish to achieve academic excellence.

The careerconnection program was formulated to aid graduating students find the job appropriate for them. The program includes career counseling, career planning, job search, workshops for job hunting, and assistance in formulating resumés and application letters. The university also sponsors an online job search site and annual career fairs, as well as arranges contacts between job seekers and potential employers.

The Work Integrated Learning program of the university provides opportunities for students to experience workplace conditions even before they graduate. This program encompasses internships, guided industry projects, mentoring, and clinical placements.
